REC PHILLY
CREATIVE WORKSPACE
A hybrid creative headquarters combining co-working, performance space, and a curated retail experience for Philadelphia’s artist community.

REC Philly is a 14,000 square foot creative incubator combining coworking, recording studios, fabrication labs, content creation suites, and a performance venue into one cohesive membership based ecosystem. The project required complex acoustic planning, flexible program zoning, and a branded interior language that reflects the energy of Philadelphia’s creative community. Industrial materials, bold colors, and layered textures were used to support a raw yet refined identity.

As Interior Designer, I contributed to concept development, programming, three dimensional studies, interior layouts, and documentation while supporting the seamless integration of brand and spatial strategy.

DESIGN NARRATIVE

The design for REC Philly centers on creating a flexible, multi-functional creative hub that merges workspace, production environments, and social gathering areas into a cohesive, community-driven ecosystem. The concept blends industrial Philadelphia heritage with warm, modern textures to create an inspiring, “maker-first” atmosphere where creators can work, collaborate, and perform under one roof.

Materiality and form balance raw authenticity with polished functionality—exposed structure, durable surfaces, and modular furniture support the high-energy, high-traffic needs of the space, while layered lighting, acoustic treatments, and bold graphic accents celebrate the brand’s identity. Circulation and spatial zoning were designed to seamlessly transition between heads-down work, collaborative interaction, and live event energy.

The result is an adaptive environment that supports a wide range of creative disciplines—including music, podcasting, photography, digital design, and community programming—while reinforcing REC Philly’s mission of empowering independent creators. Every decision was rooted in elevating workflow, enhancing flexibility, and shaping a space that feels both professional and artistically expressive.
